Seahawks Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

More than a month after suffering a rib injury against San Francisco on Sept. 20 that forced him to miss two games, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck says he’s getting closer to feeling 100 percent healthy.

Hasselbeck was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday as more of a precaution, but was a full participant on Thursday and said he feels fine for Sunday’s game.

Hasselbeck also said the healing process has been slowed by coming back from the injury early, but that he is getting better each week, and hopes to be fully healthy sooner rather than later.

“One of the things when you come back early from an injury when you really shouldn’t probably, you add on some healing time,” he said.

Houshmandzadeh: What’s all the fuss? (AP)

No one in Seattle will ever confuse T.J. Houshmandzadeh with Steve Largent. The outspoken Houshmandzadeh is "shocked" with the fuss being made in his first Seahawks season over his angry gestures and comments about not getting the ball enough, in a city where people are used to their star receivers being quiet yet ultra productive — like Largent.

Rankin getting chance to impress Seahawks (AP)

For someone who's never carried the ball in a regular season game, the Seattle Seahawks are sure enamored with running back Louis Rankin. To the point where the NFL's active rushing leader, Edgerrin James, was sent away earlier this week to see if Rankin could provide a missing jolt for Seattle's struggling run game.

Hasselbeck watched most of Wednesday's practice to rest his broken ribs, though the Seahawks expect the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback to start again Sunday against Detroit. Seattle coach Jim Mora said Hasselbeck "was a little bit beat up, like what happens to a lot of quarterbacks in this league" after playing all of last weekend's 38-17 loss at Dallas.

Jim Mora gives message to Seahawks: Don’t give up (AP)

Jim Mora is crafting more messages than wins right now. The Seattle coach just released some veterans, including Edgerrin James, the NFL's active leading rusher. He promoted running back Louis Rankin, formerly released by the equally woeful Raiders, from the practice squad. The message is clear: those who aren't producing had better start doing so when the Seahawks host the one-win Detroit…

Seattle cuts ties with Edgerrin James (AP)

The Edgerrin James experiment in Seattle is over. The struggling Seahawks cut ties with James on Tuesday, releasing the backup running back who never provided the pop Seattle hoped to get when it signed the 31-year-old in late August. James' release was one of a handful of moves Seattle made two days after a lackluster 38-17 loss that dropped the Seahawks to 2-5.

Bad NFL tackling? It’s because they don’t practice (AP)

FILE -- This is an Oct. 25, 2009, file photo showing Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Jeff Reed(notes) (3) missing the tackle on Minnesota Vikings' Percy Harvin(notes) (12), who returned his fourth quarter kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown during an NFL football game in Pittsburgh. Ever wonder why there are so many missed tackles in the NFL? Maybe it's because the players don't practice it much.

Frank Gore runs right up the gut of the Indianapolis defense. Defensive back Jerraud Powers delivers a big body-blow, but Gore just bounces off and keeps on running, one of two broken tackles on the way to a 64-yard San Francisco touchdown. Baltimore's Ray Rice catches a screen pass and is surrounded by four Cincinnati would-be tacklers — emphasis on "would-be." Rice's right hand…
