Cassel could find time to throw against Jaguars (AP)

This could be the week Matt Cassel keeps his jersey clean. Cassel has been sacked 24 times in six starts, including 19 the last four games, and has been hurried and knocked down even more often. The Jacksonville Jaguars (3-4) could offer him some relief when they host Kansas City (1-6) on Sunday. Jaguars Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

The Jaguars have to hope the cure for their sagging defense is coming to town Sunday – the Kansas City offense, which is 30th in the league.

The 1-6 Chiefs have yet to score a rushing touchdown, the offense has not scored more than two touchdowns in a game and Matt Cassel has been sacked 24 times in six games.

On top of that, running back Larry Johnson will miss the game because of a suspension. He’ll be replaced by second-year back Jamaal Charles, who has 116 yards in 23 carries.

This could provide a boost for a Jaguars defense ranked 24th overall, 25th against the rush and 26th against the pass.

Jacksonville has two major problems on defense – the pass rush and tackling.

The Jaguars have just five sacks in seven games.

Del Rio puts Jaguars through full-pads practice (AP)

Two days after ripping his team's defensive effort, coach Jack Del Rio had the Jacksonville Jaguars in full pads. The Jaguars gave up a franchise-record 305 yards rushing at Tennessee in a 30-13 loss Sunday. Del Rio called the defensive effort insulting, ugly and embarrassing. Del Rio was so upset about missed tackles that he considered having live tackling drills this week.
